The Department of Epidemiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) College of Public Health (COPH) is seeking an outstanding Cancer Epidemiologist to join our dynamic faculty. This position offers an exceptional opportunity to conduct innovative research, teach future public health leaders, and contribute to our NCI-designated Fred and Pamela Buffett Cancer Center (FPBCC).
We encourage candidates with experience across the spectrum of cancer epidemiology research, from etiological studies to intervention trials. The faculty appointment will be in the Department of Epidemiology, with the Fred and Pamela Buffett Cancer Center Cancer Prevention and Control Program membership.
Position Overview
As a Cancer Epidemiologist, you will:
Develop and lead an independent, extramurally funded research program in cancer epidemiology
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across UNMC, the FPBCC, and partner institutions and organizations
Teach and mentor graduate students in epidemiology and public health
Contribute to the Buffett Cancer Center's research mission, especially cancer prevention and control
Contribute to the research and academic missions of the Department of Epidemiology, College of Public Health
Required Qualifications
Doctoral degree (PhD, ScD, DrPH, or equivalent) in epidemiology or a related field
Established record of peer-reviewed extramural cancer funding (e.g., NIH, DOD, ACS)
Expertise in cancer epidemiology, with skills in epidemiologic methods
Commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring
Track record of peer-reviewed publications
Desired Skills
Research in environmental sciences, immunology, geospatial information sciences, molecular carcinogenesis, bioinformatics/biostatistics, diet, physical activity, life course, survivorship, molecular, genetic, pharmacogenetic or clinical epidemiology
Proficiency in advanced statistical methods and data analysis
Background in health disparities research or global health
Experience with large-scale population studies or intervention trials
