Faith Partners is a nonprofit organization based in St. Paul, Minnesota, dedicated to educating and empowering faith communities to support individuals and families facing addiction, substance misuse, and related mental health challenges. Position Summary
We seek a mission-driven Executive Director to lead Faith Partners into its next chapter of growth and impact. The ideal candidate will be a strategic leader with a deep understanding of addiction and mental health issues, a passion for community-based recovery, and expertise in nonprofit management. This individual will drive program expansion, oversee financial sustainability, and cultivate strong relationships with faith communities, donors, and key stakeholders. The Executive Director will report to the Board of Directors and work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and community partners to expand the organization’s reach and effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Organizational Growth
Develop and execute a strategic plan that aligns with Faith Partners’ mission and fosters healing and recovery.
Set and achieve key performance metrics, including program distribution targets and fundraising goals.
Provide visionary leadership to ensure sustainable growth, program excellence, and measurable impact.
Fundraising & Financial Stewardship
Develop and implement fundraising strategies, including grant writing, major gifts cultivation, micro-philanthropy, and corporate/foundation partnerships.
Build and maintain relationships with government agencies, foundations, and private donors to secure funding.
Oversee financial management, ensuring transparency, accountability, and responsible stewardship of resources.
Community & Faith-Based Engagement
Serve as the public face of Faith Partners, strengthening partnerships with faith communities, nonprofits, and addiction recovery organizations.
Expand Faith Partners’ reach by fostering collaborations that raise awareness and enhance support services for individuals in recovery.
Promote inclusivity by working across diverse faith traditions and community organizations.
Program Development & Impact
Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based, culturally sensitive programs that empower faith communities to support addiction recovery.
Ensure programs align with best practices and are tailored to meet the needs of those struggling with addiction and mental health challenges.
Identify opportunities for program expansion and innovation.
Board Development & Governance
Collaborate with the 10-member Board of Directors, including the Executive Committee and Hiring Committee, to ensure alignment on organizational goals.
Provide timely updates on progress, challenges, and opportunities for growth.
Support the Board’s governance and fundraising efforts, fostering engagement and active participation.
Staff Leadership & Organizational Culture
Recruit, mentor, and support a dedicated team, fostering an inclusive and mission-driven workplace culture.
Provide professional development opportunities to enhance staff effectiveness and satisfaction.
Promote a collaborative environment that reflects Faith Partners’ values of hope, help and healing
Qualifications & Requirements
Faith-Based Commitment: While no specific faith tradition is required, a strong understanding of the role of faith communities in addiction recovery is preferred.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, social work, public health, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in nonprofit management, addiction services, or faith-based community work.
Fundraising & Financial Expertise: Proven success in securing funding through government grants, foundations, private donors, and micro-philanthropy initiatives.
Experience developing and analyzing annual budgets and financial statements.
Program Leadership: Experience designing and overseeing programs that address addiction, mental health, or community-based recovery services.
Strategic & Relationship-Building Skills: Ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, including faith leaders, donors, and policymakers.
Strong Communication & Public Presence: Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Work Expectations
Remote position, with a preference for candidates based in St. Paul or Minneapolis, MN.
Must own a computer and telephone and have regular access to high-speed internet.
