About the opportunity:
The Senior Payroll Administrator is responsible for all activities necessary to process payroll, including maintaining related records, depositing taxes and related reports, processing deductions, posting accounting transactions, and documenting procedures. This position leads the payroll and scheduling aspects of HRIS implementations and upgrades, leverages a strategic awareness of industry trends and labor management needs to recommend the optimal system build, troubleshoots system and user issues and configures and repairs hardware. The Senior Payroll Administrator prepares standard and ad hoc reports including creating queries and reports in SQL and Crystal.
What you will do:
Prepares and processes biweekly and off-cycle payrolls and produces related payroll reports. Prepares and posts payroll related journal entries.
Runs standard payroll reports and writes custom payroll reports and queries. Coordinates the interface of Kronos data into other software systems.
Provides exceptional customer service and support to all users of Kronos including one-on-training and creation of user training and reference materials.
Leads the payroll and scheduling aspects of Kronos implementations and upgrades. Leverages a strategic awareness of trends in the payroll industry, new Kronos functionality, and internal labor management needs to recommend the optimal Kronos system build.
Prepares documentation in connection with the financial statement audit, tax return, Medicare Cost Report, and other external reporting requirements.
Prepares the annual PTO budget.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.

What you will need:
Experience:
Minimum of five years payroll administrator and accounting experience performing similar job functions is required.
Hospital payroll experience preferred
Must have strong knowledge and experience with (1) payroll policies and procedures, (2) federal and state payroll statutes, (3) payroll record keeping and reporting requirements and procedures, (4) bookkeeping and accounting including reviewing, posting, balancing and reconciling financial records.
Must be able to research and analyze regulatory updates and other information impacting the payroll system and to coordinate the implementation of required changes to Kronos.
Must be able to work independently to plan and prioritize own workload while maintaining exceptional accuracy within strict deadlines.
Must be able to work as part of a team with a strong sense of urgency, reliability, and flexibility
Must be able to maintain employee trust and protect operations by keeping information confidential.
Must have significant experience with basic methods and practices of software testing and implementation.

Computer / Typing:
Must have strong HRIS experience, preferably Kronos
Must have report writing experience with the ability to create queries and reports in Crystal or SQL
Must have advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge including the ability to create complex formulas such as VLOOKUP, Subtotals, etc.
Must be able to trouble shoot and mitigate issues related to time and attendance and payroll software and hardware.
Must be proficient in other Microsoft applications such as PowerPoint, Word and Outlook. - Must be proficient in 10-key.
Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computer skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
Education:
Graduation from an accredited college or university, with an Associate?s degree or higher is required.
Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics or a related field of study is preferred.
