Job Summary
The Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS) Foundation is the philanthropic arm of NGHS. The Annual Gifts Officer plays a critical fundraising role by creating an entry point for donors. Stewarding new and returning annual donors ensures fundraising success for the entire organization. The Annual Gifts Officer (AGO) is responsible for planning, implementing, managing and evaluating strategies and programs that will develop and grow annual giving with the guidance of the Director of Development. The AGO oversees daily activities, appeals, outreach and stewardship efforts. Developing pipeline strategies that increase employee and physician giving, direct mail acquisition and renewal, and grateful patient identification and acquisition are priorities of the annual giving program. The AGO is responsible for maintaining the donor database (Raiser's Edge) including ensuring the integrity of electronic donor files, improving data entry practices, and ensuring operational efficiency. The AGO optimizes the process of exporting information from the database, increases accessibility of resources, provides technical support and database leadership. As a member of NGHS Foundation professional development team, the AGO is responsible for broad knowledge of the purpose, importance and status of all Foundation projects and programs. This role will be expected to participate in, and often lead, short and long-range planning activities to develop fundraising goals and objectives and work to ensure successful outcomes.
Minimum Job Qualifications
Licensure or other certifications:
Educational Requirements: Bachelors degree in Business, Non-profit Management, Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, or other related field required.
Minimum Experience: Bachelors Degree and two (2) years experience in annual gift fundraising and/or program management preferably in a healthcare setting required. Other related experience in similar industries with transferrable skills will be considered.

Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills including strong listening, written and verbal communication proficiency. Ability to write and edit copy is essential.
Experience with the Raiser's Edge or other fundraiser/donor management systems.
Computer proficiency with Microsoft products, including Windows, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Self-motivated and disciplined. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
Manages donor electronic files, ensuring they are accurate and up to date for memberships, renewals and prospect status decision-making. Oversees the continual optimization of the database and streamlining of the Foundation's standard work relating to the database (Raiser's Edge.)
Evaluates and tracks results of all annual giving activities to determine strengths, opportunities for improvements, and return on investment. Works closely with development team to create programs and reports that improve pipeline development.
Manages a comprehensive annual campaign including solicitation and year-round engagement strategies for donor retention, acquisition and awareness with goals of increased retention, increased engagement, increased donors and increased funds raised.
Recruits, trains and engages committee members of the employee giving club (WATCH).
Cultivates, solicits, and stewards active donors of WATCH and the physician giving club. (James H. Downey Society)
Works diligently developing relationships with community members, physicians, employees, volunteers and donors to develop and sustain support of NGHS Foundation. Designs strategies and tactics to foster a culture of philanthropy. Uses internal relationships to drive philanthropic understanding and participation, and as a tool to help increase grateful patient referrals.
Manages WATCH, including soliciting new employees at bi-weekly new employee orientation, tracking orientation success, and ongoing outreach and education efforts. Will be responsible for building follow-up, new solicitation, and renewal standard work for employees.
Oversees the budget and program implementation for WATCH, James H. Downey Society, grateful patient program and direct mail programs ensuring budgetary compliance.
Drives the development of campaign communication plans with Donor Relations Officer for effectively marketing, messaging, segmenting, and executing appeals. In collaboration with Donor Relations Officer and PR, creates strategic and integrated marketing and annual campaigns including timelines, material and message development, volunteer engagement and prospect identification.
Analyzes goal progress, diagnoses root causes for successes and gaps, proposes course adjustments in strategy and operations.
Provides technical support and leadership for the database environment; provides tools to assist in the management of the database.
Provides training to development and support staff in the effective utilization of database and wealth screening resources.
Develops standard work for the ongoing assessment of database performance; identifies and resolves conflicts arising over the creation, control and use of data; develops and enforces database user guidelines.
Monitors database performance and serves as quality control agent for database use; overseeing data integrity, creating queries and exports to automate processes. Creates and maintains database standard work.
Translates data into usable, actionable information for the formation and execution of fundraising strategies and benchmarks. Monitors and reports-out performance and effectiveness of strategies and tactics; recommends changes to course correct and improve metrics as needed. Provides metrics and analysis to facilitate informed business decisions and strengthen donor pipeline.
Manages prospects through the donor pipeline (moves management) to cultivate meaningful relationships for long-term support by aligning donor passion to NGHS' philanthropic need.
Manages a portfolio of annual giving leadership level gift prospects and develop pipeline of major gifts prospects in coordination with major gifts officers. Oversees the accurate recording, reporting and managing of all donor information to be able to provide giving reports and giving history report on constituents, as needed.
Develops and implements a multi-year strategic plan to grow annual giving support for NGHS, increase participation across all platforms (e.g., direct mail, employee giving, physician giving and grateful patient acquisition).
Develops and oversees strategies to improve acquisition, renewal and pledge fulfillment.
Develops and implements strategies to encourage increased leadership in annual giving.
Identifies best practices and opportunities for capacity building and growth, solicitation strategies and stewardship for the annual giving program.
Demonstrates flexibility, a helpful, willing attitude in all requests, helping to create a pleasant teamwork environment.
Maintains highest level of confidentiality in areas including but not limited to donor gifts, prospect lists, meeting discussions, etc.
