The Department of Health Law, Policy, and Management (HLPM) at the Boston University School of Public Health (BUSPH) invites applications for an open rank faculty position in health care management. Candidates for this position should demonstrate the ability or potential to be an outstanding instructor and may also be considered for the role of Healthcare Management Program Director. The start date is expected to be in Summer 2025.
Faculty with expertise in health care management engage in our nationally-ranked CAHME-accredited program. Candidates for this position will be expected to teach classes such as Strategic Management of Health Care Organizations, Operations Management, Lean Management, Healthcare Delivery Systems, Human Resources, Healthcare Finance and our Leadership and Management core course, and to conduct externally-funded scholarly research in improving access, quality and value in health care. Candidates must have a doctoral degree (PhD, ScD, MD, or equivalent) in a relevant field and a record of academic or practice-based excellence.
The HLPM Department also invites applications from individuals with significant healthcare leadership experience to engage in our nationally-ranked CAHME-accredited Healthcare Management program. Candidates for this position will be expected to teach classes such as Strategic Management of Health Care Organizations, Operations Management, Lean Management, Healthcare Delivery Systems, Human Resources, Healthcare Finance, Accounting, and our Leadership and Management core course. Candidates will also be expected to advise students in the program. Candidates must have a terminal degree (PhD, ScD, MD, MPH, MHA, MBA or equivalent) in a relevant field and a record of practice-based excellence. Prior teaching experience is preferred. Candidates interested in a part-time role will also be considered.

The Department of Health Law, Policy, and Management is comprised of 39 faculty, who are internationally recognized for their innovation in research, scholarship, and teaching across the broad fields of health and social policy, health law, health economics, and healthcare management. Many HLPM faculty work with the Partner Evidence-based Policy Resource Center (PEPReC) for the Veterans Hospital Administration and perform studies examining demand and access to care for veterans. The Healthy Minds Study, the largest, most comprehensive study of mental health, health behaviors, and health service use on U.S. college campuses, is co-lead by HLPM faculty. Our healthcare management faculty study cancer screening capacity across health care organizations, health care leadership, and hospital operations. In addition to our engagement in the school-wide MPH and DrPH programs, the department has a large and successful PhD program in Health Services and Policy Research.
