The School of Health Sciences and Wellness at UW-Stevens Point is establishing a pool of qualified adjunct faculty to teach various courses for students enrolled in Medical Laboratory Science courses. The adjunct pool is used to select part-time instructional academic staff that most closely meet the program’s needs on a course-by-course basis.
The University of Wisconsin Stevens Point (UWSP) is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist – Medical Technologist lecturer to teach introductory and advanced courses in MLS (lecture and laboratory) and Health Science courses.
Instructors are fully responsible for all aspects of their courses. Department courses will provide students with a modern MLS education and prepare students as future Medical Laboratory Scientists. The courses may be taught in traditional classrooms, laboratory settings in-person, 100% online or hybrid (online & in-person). Although most courses are taught during regular business hours, evening classes are also an option. The School of Health Sciences and Wellness is committed to fostering an intellectually rigorous, equitable, diverse, and inclusive learning environment. This position is on a per-semester basis. Summer teaching may be available.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Earned a master’s degree in clinical laboratory science, medical laboratory science, or another related field from an accredited program within an accredited college or university. In-progress master’s degree will be considered if the degree is conferred prior to the start date of the position.
Credentialed as a Medical Laboratory Scientist with either the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or the American Medical Technologists (AMT).
At least 3 years of work experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Earned a master’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or Clinical Laboratory Science from a NAACLS accredited program within an accredited college or university. In-progress master’s degree will be considered if the degree is conferred prior to the start of the position.
Demonstrated experience with NAACLS accreditation process.
The Medical Laboratory Science – Medical Technology Program (MLS-MT) at UW-Stevens Point is nationally accredited (NAACLS). Nearly 100 students are enrolled in the program with approximately 30 students graduating each year. The MLS-MT program is housed in the School of Health Sciences and Wellness. The School offers 10 undergraduate majors, 8 graduate degree programs, and 8 certificate programs, and has more than 1200 students. Terms of Employment
This is a semester by semester, instructional Academic Staff appointment, exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
