All work is performed under the direction of the Director of Perfusion and ECMO services, but is expected to work independently.
The ECMO coordinator is responsible for managing the operational functions of the ECMO program, providing support to the clinicians and providers, under the direction of the Director of Perfusion and ECMO services and in collaboration with the ECMO supervising physicians. Major functions include clinical expertise to provide, education using evidence-based practices, oversight of quality and performance improvement measures, inter and intradepartmental liaison to secure resources for the ECMO patient population across the healthcare continuum. Data management oversight to ensure quality reporting is captured and maintenance of the structures required for ELSO Center of Excellence. The ECMO coordinator will report directly to the Director of Perfusion and ECMO Services and the Executive Director of Perioperative Services.
Primary focus of ECLS/ECMO coordinator at UCLA health is to actively participate and coordinate clinical practice, operations and quality initiatives of adult, pediatric and neonatal ECLS/ECMO program. ECMO coordinator will work in multidisciplinary team that include specialists from cardiac surgery, anesthesiology, cardiology, critical care, pulmonology, perfusion services, nursing and physical therapy who care for wide range of patients supported by ECLS for respiratory and/or heart failure. In addition to oversight of clinical practice and operations.The ECMO/ECLS coordinator will be actively participating in development and conduction of educational activities for staff, patients, families, and community outreach networks.The ECMO coordinator will also actively participate and coordinate quality improvement initiatives and maintenance of ECMO/ECLS database.
Salary range : $92,600-$202,200/annually
Qualifications
BLS, ACLS and PALS- required
Current RN, RRT, or CCP certification/licensure in the state of practice- required
ABCP certification Or ELSO ECMO Specialist Certification required (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
Bachelors or Masters degree in Perfusion Technology, Nursing or Respiratory Therapy- required
Minimum 5 years of experience managing ECMO patients in a critical care setting- required
Prior leadership or program coordination experience -preferred.
Demonstrated proficiency in adult and/or pediatric ECMO (as applicable)- required
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills required
Proficiency in data analysis, reporting, and performance improvement initiatives- required
Ability to foster a collaborative, team-oriented environment -required
Ability to accomplish multiple tasks and prioritize activities -required.
Effective verbal and written communication skills -required.
