Job Summary
Troubleshoots, maintains and operates air conditioning, heating and refrigeration systems to ensure a quality controlled environment.
Minimum Job Qualifications
Licensure or other certifications:
Educational Requirements: HVAC certification is required when in lieu of High School Diploma/GED.
Minimum Experience: Minimum five (5) years in A/C with experience in all sizes and types of A/C systems.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
Air conditioning and heating equipment is repaired, adjusted and maintained to ensure optimum performance. Analyzes air conditioning mechanical problems, pneumatic controls and electrical systems associated with air conditioning controls, makes necessary repairs, and returns to service with minimum down time. Provides proper documentation on preventive maintenance systems. Assists other maintenance personnel in performing repairs and preventive maintenance on support equipment. Properly documents repairs, adjustments and parts on work order requests.
Ensures that refrigeration equipment is maintained and repaired properly. Analyzes refrigeration mechanical problems, repairs and returns to service with minimum down time. Performs refrigerant recovery, for new refrigerant conversions. Maintains material for normal and emergency repairs. Documents refrigerant usage in log book.
Ensures boiler and auxiliary equipment are properly operated, maintained and repaired. Operates and maintains Boilers. Diagnoses and corrects minor operational problems. Repairs or replaces valves, sight glasses and limit controls. Regulates, repairs or replaces feed water and condensate pumps and steam traps.
Knowledge and skill necessary to make repairs and maintenance on HVAC equipment demonstrated through the use of manuals, blueprints and schematics. Reads electrical wiring schematics to troubleshoot problems. Reads mechanical piping blueprints and eliminates cooling and heating problems. Understands and interprets specifications and service manuals.
Correctly utilizes appropriate personal protective equipment. Utilizes appropriate personal protective equipment in required situations. Ensure integrity of hospital issued and staff provided personal protective equipment. Anticipated personal protective equipment for job performance: Gloves - Latex (2 types - Rubber, Acid), Safety Eye Goggles, Face Shield, Ear Plugs, Rubber Boots, Body Suit with Booties, Powered Air Respirator (PAPR), Lockout/Tagout Equipment, Gloves - Leather, Safety Glasses, Fluid Shield/Mask, Disposable Gowns, N-95 Face Mask, Hard hats, Plastic Apron, GFI cords.
