QualificationsExperience:
PTU/PACU RN Role:
BSN or MSN Degree, required.
Minimum 3 years experience caring for adolescent and adult patients in PTU, PACU, MPU, IR, or Surgical Critical Care settings, required.
Experience with administration of moderate sedation, preferred.
Experience working in outpatient/ambulatory surgery and/or procedural locations, preferred.
Current State of California Nursing license, required.
Current BLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, required.
Ability to travel between all perioperative areas/SPD when necessary, required.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Ability to complete a Nursing physical assessment
Skill in developing a plan of care including setting goals, monitoring and documenting progress
Ability to implement interventions that are pertinent to goals established in the plan of care
Ability to evaluate the effective of interventions toward the attainment of established goals and to recognize the need to reassess or reset goal parameters
Ability to delegate tasks in a management style that is consistent with promoting leadership and teamwork
Knowledge base to provide education to patients, families, and other staff regarding clinical and patient care issues
Skill in reading and interpreting comprehensive medical/surgical procedures and making them easily understood by patients and families with appropriate vocabulary
Skill in working independently to complete multiple complex tasks with rapid changes in priorities
Demonstrated strong organizational skills to facilitate an extremely busy and demanding office environment
Ability to work efficiently and calmly under pressure
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with tact and sensitivity at all levels
Ability to deal effectively with patients, physicians, technicians, and other staff members
Ability to serve as a key response person to patients, physicians, technicians and staff members
Demonstrated ability to create and maintain cooperative and respectful working relationships with staff members, physicians, technicians, patients and all other UCLA staff.
Skill in assessing and meeting patients’ various emotional and physical needs in a timely manner
Skill in setting and recognizing priorities; ability to react and perform effectively in medical emergencies
Skills in listening and obtaining knowledge to provide accurate reporting to the physicians
Willingness to provide individualized services to patients
Ability to arrange for referrals and consultations on short notice
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision yet function as a team
Ability to maintain patient confidentiality at all times
Ability to work overtime when necessary and provide back up support in times of absences, vacations, etc.
PC proficiency in a Windows environment and Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, E-mail
Knowledge in the use of EMR.
Demonstrate knowledge in all areas of care specific to surgical service lines and continuum of perioperative care, including conscious sedation.
Knowledge of cardiac monitoring and ability to identify dysrhythmias.
Ability to push, pull, and lift 50lbs.
Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
Ability to wear radiation protective lead apron for prolonged periods of time.
Ability to float between Community ASC sites as needed to support staffing needs
