The role you’ll contribute:
The Patient Experience Ambassador has a knowledge of the broad scope of services offered by the Department of Radiology and models positive customer service behaviors. The Patient Experience Ambassador will engage customers and staff to enhance their experience at SMH. The primary focus will be meeting/exceeding customer needs. Duties include greeting customers and guests who come to the department and assist them with their inquiries and initiating the Radiology exam process in a positive and welcoming manner. This position also provides secretarial services for the department; managing and maintaining the Radiology film library; obtaining necessary operating supplies for the department; coordinating communications and performing clerical duties.

·Contacts Facilities Management and Environmental Services departments when necessary
·Follows the AIDET model(Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation and Thank.
·Assists with the maintenance of computer hardware as appropriate, recognizes when extra assistance is needed, and makes the request to the appropriate associate.
·Faxes, files and mails various reports and information.
·Performs other related duties as required and deemed necessary per Radiology Director.
·Follows the “Standard of Behavior” guidelines per hospital policy.
·Incorporates patient, physician, customer needs and concerns into decision-making and organizational action.
·Greets all visitors and customers who come to the department.
·Answers telephone calls, accepts and relays messages.Possesses a general understanding of the various radiological exams and answers questions of public inquiry when appropriate, and refers calls when and where indicated.
·Gives customer appropriate instructions and exam preparations for future exams as indicated by the procedure.
·Answers phones and assists customers and physicians with inquires and film check outs.Assists customers and physicians when in the department.
·Takes requisitions off the printer and places in the appropriate boxes.
·Assists radiologist with problems as they arise.
·Fills out information when addendums are requested and takes them to radiologist.
·Fax reports when requested by the doctor’s offices.
·Checks the tube and distributes mail to appropriate areas.
Front Desk Duties:
·Prints reports from Rad order viewer
·Prints orders from power chart
·Puts requisition in appropriate box
·Orders outpatient exams in order entry
·Answers the phone in a timely manner
Cedarwood Room:
·Make eye contact and smile
·Greet and welcome each and every guest
·Display appropriate body language at all times
·Project a positive image and energy
·Be courteous and respectful to all guests
·Make every customer feel important
·Be “Assertively Friendly” actively seek contact with customers
·Keep customers up to date on possible delays
·Looks for opportunities to 'wow' patients during their visit
·Checks in outpatients under Scheduling appointment book.
·Orders Outpatient exams in order entry
·Answers the phone in a timely, friendly and courteous manner
·Places stickers from pre-registered papers on the Radiology Forms
·Prints orders from Power Chart only when working in Cedarwood Room.
·Verifies that a doctor’s order has been received for every patient and scanned intoPower Chart
·Routes all doctor’s orders to Medical Records (HIM) each day. 1st fax to COS 913-789-3889.
·Records outpatient’s arrival in Log book on computer in Cedarwood Room and notes when patient is called by the modality for the procedure. If patient waits more than 20 minutes, IA calls department to find out why the delay and relays information on to patient.
·Attends a minimum of 50% of scheduled department meetings and is responsible for obtaining information from missed meetings.
·Operates Cerner System proficiently, trouble shoots problems with orders and makes corrections within scope of user level.
·Assigned Patient Experience Ambassador maintains a current inventory of clerical supplies.
·Performs other clerical tasks as time permits and has a willingness to assume additional responsibility.
