Description The Department of Medicine's Division of General, Geriatric, and Palliative Medicine at the University of Virginia seeks a recognized leader in transdisciplinary geriatric and gerontological research. This prestigious role will provide leadership, direction, and innovation in furthering the Department’s research program on aging at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. This position will collaborate with several entities across UVA, both within the School of Medicine and across UVA’s Schools, creating and sustaining partnerships for cutting-edge aging research.
The selected candidate will be an MD or MD/PhD nationally recognized researcher with a strong track record of extramural-funded research, sustained scholarly productivity, and the capacity for ambitious and innovative thinking in the field of aging. Holding the rank of Associate or Full Professor on the Clinician Investigator track, the selected candidate will receive a robust start-up package to promote long-term success and will be nominated for the newly established Daniel M. Becker Professorship in Geriatric Research. In alignment with the campaign for the geriatric “5M’s” of Age-Friendly Care, candidates with research portfolios focused on geriatric syndromes will be prioritized.
In addition to research, the selected candidate will sustain a partial clinical practice that may include caring for older adults in ambulatory primary care, consultative clinics, or inpatient settings.

Qualifications Candidates must have an MD and be board-certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine. Certification (certificate of added qualifications) in Geriatrics is also required.
Rank and tenure status will be determined by qualifications.
