POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the Director of Medical Staff Services, performs credentialing and recredentialing in accordance with The Joint Commission, CMS and Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules & Regulations, policy and procedure requirements for the purpose of Medical/APC staff membership and privileges. The Medical Staff Credentialing Specialist manages practitioner files working cooperatively with practitioners, internal departments and contract groups to ensure the seamless and timely flow of credentials information in order to meet credentialing deadlines. Individual must demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness and problem-solving skills in executing functions to ensure the orderly flow of business.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent required. Two or more years of college in business courses preferred.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Current Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) through the National Association Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) or must become certified within thirty six (36) months after date of hire.

EXPERIENCE: Two or more years? experience in health care environment working directly with physicians, advanced practice professionals and office staff demonstrating the ability to complete assigned tasks independently or with minimum supervision. Credentialing or Medical Staff management experience desired.
NATURE OF SUPERVISION:
-Responsible to: Director, Medical Staff Services
ENVIRONMENT: General office environment and general hospital departments/nursing units (100%) of the day.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to move around the hospital to all units/departments and off-site clinics for about 20% of the day, sitting in office 80% of the day. Use of computer to enter data, type reports and request reports. Requires close work, good vision, dexterity to write as well as type. Subject to stressful professional relationships. Working hours vary, with flexibility due to unexpected changes in schedule and emergencies.
