Sandhill Center is an innovative, nationally-recognized residential program for children between the ages of eight and thirteen who are experiencing significant difficulties in functioning at home, in school, or in the community. Most of our residents lack the capacity to adequately regulate their emotional or mental states, and therefore present with emotional and behavioral challenges.
Our goal as treatment providers for children is to create a therapeutic environment in which care and connection are hard to resist. Our treatment model encourages the development of healthy interpersonal relationships, while confronting behaviors that interfere with that connection. We integrate key principles of neurobiology, along with emotionally focused work, to help create powerful, focused and highly individualized intervention strategies. Caseloads are kept small to maximize therapeutic support for each resident.
