The UCLA Center for Prehospital Care is the leading emergency and prehospital academic center on the West Coast. One of only four centers of its kind in the nation, the Center is dedicated to advancing the systems and methods of EMS. We teach, test, and certify the people who provide care to the ill or injured prior to hospital admission.
Community Health Skills Instructors provide skills instruction according to our Community Training Center standards. Courses are provided for the UCLA Medical Center, and general medical community at large. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: providing demonstrations, acting as a student advocate in the learning process, creating an active learning environment, ensuring course requirements, recording and communicating student attendance, and objectives are met, and other duties as assigned. This is a 10% per diem position which may convert to career.
Hourly range: $23.90-$44.59
Qualifications
Required:
Associates degree in a related field or equivalent experience/training.
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association.
Valid unrestricted California driver’s license. Available to drive personal vehicle to off campus locations for contract instructional assignments or special
projects.
Knowledge of educational program content, objectives, and departmental policies. (Preferred)
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Ability to simplify complex concepts for easy understanding.
Ability to create a stimulating classroom environment.
Independence in work with minimal supervision.
Team collaboration skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Customer service orientation in a professional manner.
Physical abilities to perform frequent standing, walking, sitting, lifting, and other motions required for daily tasks.
Flexible scheduling to work evenings, weekends, and off-site locations.
Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with various stakeholders, including supervisors, students, and the public.
Preferred:
Lived experience with issues related to public health, healthcare access, social services, or other relevant areas impacting the community to provide insight into health and wellness challenges.
Experience with community educational programs and trends.
Experience teaching in hybrid (online and in-person) formats.
Experience creating and delivering lecture presentations.
