Our patient?s average length of stay is currently 18 hours. We see a mix of patients and including "rule out" stroke and chest pain patients. We do not function as an overflow unit. We share a Charge RN and Unit Secretary with the Intermediate Care Unit. There is great team work between both units. The Observation unit can be very fast-paced so we look for nurses who are fast-paced and compassionate.
