Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Room Service Supervisor to be responsible for and coordinate employee work activities within our Room Service delivery system. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hospitality and/or healthcare and possess prior supervisory experience. This role ensures compliance with institutional policies, regulatory requirements, and maintains high standards of patient satisfaction with meal services.
Role Overview:
- Provide excellent customer service to patients.
- Manage daily staffing logistics, including break and meal assignments for staff.
- Ensure adherence to the Room Service Meal Delivery and Medication Administration (MDMA) policy and act as a liaison between nursing staff and patients as needed.
- Address and resolve patient concerns regarding meal service within 24 hours, ensuring follow-up as vital.
- Conduct daily rounds on patient units to supervise tray accuracy, food quality, presentation, and temperature, ensuring alignment with departmental standards.
- Maintain sanitation standards for patient pantries and enforce safe food handling practices.
- Inspect equipment to ensure accurate functioning.
- Participate in the interview process to identify candidates with the skills and experience that align with institutional standards and legal guidelines.
- Evaluate potential applicants against role requirements and contribute to the selection process.
- Assess and provide feedback on staff performance, aiding in the performance appraisal process.
- Document meal consumption and food waste during daily rounds, identify improvement opportunities, and submit quarterly reports to the manager
Key Qualifications:
- 4+ years of supervisory experience in hospitality (e.g., hotel, food & beverage/restaurant), healthcare, or a related service industry.
- High-energy, proactive, with a strong leadership presence and outstanding customer service skills.
- Proven track record to foster a positive, engaging, and team-oriented work environment.
Core Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with employees and guests at all levels in a diligent, friendly, and service-oriented manner.
- Ability to listen actively, understand, and resolve concerns raised by team members and guests.
- Dedication to maintaining high standards in service and quality.
Additional Information:
- Location: MSK's Main Campus, 1275 York Ave, NYC.
- Schedule: Full-Time 1PM -9PM flexible, rotating weekends.
