The main purpose of this position is to function as Chief of Staff for the Health Care Financing & Medicaid Administration (MMA). As a member of the Medicaid Administration Executive team and reporting directly to the Deputy Secretary of Healthcare Financing and Medicaid Director, this position plays a critical role in being a senior advisor and facilitator of operations of Maryland Medicaid’s program that serves more than 1.6M Marylanders. This position has administrative oversight and authority in the areas of Human Resources Management, Operations, Policy, Procurement, Fiscal Administration, Administrative and Legislative Audits and Compliance, and other special projects. The role will have close intersects with other administrations across Maryland Department of Health and assist the Deputy Secretary, Deputy Medicaid Director, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and program directors on decision-making in the effort to provide the best outcomes to the recipients of the Maryland Medical Assistance including the development and enforcement of policy, regulations, and standard operating procedures for programmatic operations. Other central responsibilities include personnel management, contracting, performance evaluations, and support in addressing constituent and legislative inquiries.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and six years of experience in administrative staff or professional work to include three years of experience in professional health services work to include evaluating, analyzing, researching and developing health care policies, legislation or programs. Two years of this experience must have involved the supervision of other employees.
A master's degree from an accredited college or university may be substituted for 2 years of the required general experience.
