Job Summary:
Serves as a principal role in implementing and supporting pharmacy technology systems, including the role of defining and maintaining the configuration of complex systems to continually meet the operational requirements of the pharmacy enterprise. The Business Application Specialist - Pharmacyworks with stakeholders across the health system to implement, maintain, standardize, and advance pharmacy systems while ensuring regulatory compliance and continuous improvement in pharmacy technology. This position alsoserves as the liaison between the end-users, vendors, and information services for business application system issues. This is a local position in North Carolina.
Description of Job Responsibilities:
1.Supports senior team members with requests related to pharmacy system changes, collaborating with stakeholders throughout the health system to meet institutional and operational needs
2. Helps maintain the configuration of pharmacy software systems to continually meet the operational requirements of the department and/or can alter operations to meet the capabilities of an existing system. Assists with upgrades, implementation, integration, maintenance, evaluation, and performance improvements.
3. Documents detailed business processes and associated application processing. Assists in development of detailed specifications from which programs will be written.
4. Formulates/defines scope and objectives for pharmacy department systems development and implementation. Acts as business expert and assists users in defining needs. Devises or modifies procedures to solve application problems, considering equipment capabilities and limitations, and form of desired results.
5. Acts as principal liaison between the user community, vendors and Information Services on problem solving and improvement to new and existing operational systems.
6. Participates in system wide initiatives to improve efficiency and reach institutional goals/objectives
7. Assists with technology-related projects impacting pharmacy departments across all health system locations, including planning, coordination, and execution of system-wide initiatives aimed at improving medication delivery
8. Assists with training and education programs for pharmacy staff to ensure proper use of pharmacy information systems and automation technologies
9. Participates in testing existing and new systems to verify correct functionality. Tests and validates appropriate processing of new releases and added functionality on departmental systems. Analyzes implications for inclusion into the system. Assists in development of test scripts. Works with Information Services to coordinate the updates, releases, and new versions.
10. Prepares financial/operational analysis materials for departmental and institutional planning and process improvement. Identify through data analysis, opportunities for improvement in business or application processing. Participates in the planning and establishment of departmental reporting.
11. Provides business process and application support to users. Analyzes and interprets program or system problems and determines and initiates appropriate corrective action. Communicates as necessary with vendors and Information Services to resolve problems.
12. Supports and monitor system-wide compliance with DSCSA regulations, overseeing processes related to drug tracking and reporting across all health system pharmacies
Other Information
Education Requirements: ? Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information System Management, Math/Science or related field (or equivalent combination of education, training and experience). Licensure/Certification Requirements: ? No licensure or certification required. Professional Experience Requirements: ? If a Bachelor's degree: One (1) year of progressively responsible experience working with information systems. ? If an Associate's degree: Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience working with information systems. ? If a High School diploma or GED: Nine (9) years of progressively responsible experience working with information systems. Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
The ideal candidate has solid critical thinking and analytical skills, able to identify patterns in data and assist in making evidence-based decisions. They are proficient in Microsoft Excel, including functions like pivot tables and basic automation, with some experience in data visualization. Familiarity with business applications and a willingness to learn new technologies is important. Good communication skills are needed to explain technical information to others and work well with different teams. The candidate should be self-motivated, able to manage their time well, and work with minimal supervision.
