A stable and growing Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), the San Francisco Community Health Center, has pioneered many innovative healthcare, whole-person care and advocacy programs serving, perhaps, the most vulnerable and stigmatized populations in the US, including the unhoused and the LGBTQ community.
For many years, from their satellite offices housed at the Howard Brown Health Center in Chicago, the SFCHC has provided capacity building consulting services to healthcare provider organizations serving HIV patients in Midwestern states. The SFCHC has brought about transformative change among many struggling populations in San Francisco and nationwide.
The SFCHC’s budget has expanded by 300% in the past three years due to a transformative gift of $10M from MacKenzie Scott and Dan Jewett and awarding of major government contracts. The high levels of trust between executive management and staff have enhanced their collaboration and organizational performance.
