Southern Arizona VA Healthcare System (SAVAHCS) in Tucson, Arizona is currently looking for an Addiction Psychiatrist.
Position Information:
The Substance Use Disorder Treatment program utilizes social workers, psychologist, addiction therapists, and peer supports to provide evidence-based therapies. The program has implemented contingency management, and harm reduction.
SAVAHCS has access to numerous medications for substance use disorders, and contracts with a local behavioral health clinic to provide methadone.
This position provides an excellent teaching, research, and publications opportunities for mental health care services, supported with all the available resources.
Job Duties:
As the Addiction Psychiatrist you will provide addiction and dual diagnosis treatment to Veterans with substance use disorders and mental health disorders as part of an integrated team of Physicians, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Social Workers, Nurses, and Clinical Pharmacists with the Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program (SUDTP).
The Addiction Psychiatrist is responsible for providing addiction and dual diagnosis treatment in the outpatient setting in the SUDTP. The physician participates in teaching and supervising Addiction Medicine Fellows, Psychiatry Residents, and Medical Students in clinic.
Serve as a faculty member of the University of Arizona Addiction Medicine Fellowship and must be able to obtain affiliate faculty appointment with the University of Arizona College of Medicine.
Provides cross-coverage with the outpatient Addiction Psychiatrist.

The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS), located in Tucson, Arizona is a Joint Commission-accredited, level 1a complexity teaching hospital, providing tertiary-level care. The SAVAHCS offers a beautiful 150-acre campus with a full range of medical and mental health services for Veterans, including a 31-bed inpatient psychiatry/substance use acute treatment unit, a 25-bed mental health residential rehabilitation treatment program for substance use disorders (SUD) and PTSD treatment, intensive outpatient programs for SUD and PTSD, homeless programs, and more. The SAVAHCS operates a 24-hour emergency department and is the host site for various regional referral centers of excellence including the Polytrauma Network Site, the Southwest Blind Rehabilitation Center, and the Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (MHRRTP). The SAVAHCS is the principal teaching affiliate of the University of Arizona Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy. Annually nearly 1,000 physician and associated health trainees participate in health care training programs at the SAVAHCS.

Requirements:
United States Citizenship
Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Residency Training
Must be board certified in psychiatry or fellowship-trained addiction psychiatrist.
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday - 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (on campus)
Preferred Experience: Experience providing addiction medicine care in an outpatient setting.
