Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS) and Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick NJ is seeking a full-time cardiac surgeon at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The successful candidate will join a team of 5 cardiac surgeons and 30+ APPs, contributing to a program that performs approximately 1800 cardiac procedures annually.

Clinical Leadership: In a variety of areas of practice including minimally-invasive valve surgery, transcatheter valvular procedures, and mechanical circulatory support.

Research: With involvement in nearly a dozen clinical trials and an extramurally funded basic science research lab, the faculty produced dozens of peer-reviewed manuscripts in recent years including in prestigious journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, and Circulation.
Education: An ACGME-accredited cardiothoracic residency program.
Quality: Repeatedly earned 3-star ratings from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS).
This new team member will have expertise in a specific area of cardiac surgery practice, such as transplantation / heart failure, robotics, atrial fibrillation, or complex aortic surgery. Though the appointee will be involved in the full spectrum of cardiac surgery, their success will be measured by the ability to collaborate with other providers and staff to further develop and grow their program of focus. Further, they will contribute to the education and training of residents and medical students. Academic rank and funding will be dependent on scholarly activity.
Candidates must hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the state of New Jersey; have completed an accredited fellowship or equivalent training in CT Surgery; and be Board certified or eligible by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery or equivalent.
The successful candidate will be exclusively based at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH). As the primary teaching hospital for Rutgers-RWJMS, RWJUH is the premier academic medical center in New Jersey, serving a catchment of more than 5 million people. It is the quaternary care referral center for RWJ-Barnabas Health, the largest hospital system in New Jersey, which is comprised of 12 acute care hospitals and more than 9,000 physician providers.
