Schedule:Full Time
Shift: Mid-shift. 3 shifts per week. Weekends and holidays required as department is 24/7
The role you’ll contribute:
OurLegacy is designated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) as the only organ procurement organization (OPO) in east central Florida and is accredited by the American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB) as a tissue recovery agency. The Referral Coordinator is responsible for all incoming Vented and Non-Vented referrals called into and/or electronically submitted to OurLegacy from our Donor Service Area. They will collect the appropriate level of medical information to aide in donor eligibility evaluation for organ or tissue donation and direct the referral to the appropriate organ and/or tissue teams for follow up. This-call position may require extended work hours during periods of high activity, flexibility, and actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
• Assumes 12-hour responsibility for organ and tissue referral activity. Provides prompt response to organ and tissue donation referrals during a 12-hour period.
• Performs thorough patient evaluation for organ and tissue donation. Recognize and understand brain death as a function of donation suitability.
• Provides exceptional customer service to our donor service area hospitals during any inbound and/or outbound correspondence and maintains cordial and respectful relationships with hospital personnel.
• Communicates and provides critical medical screening information to Supervisor and/or Lead as appropriate.
• When required, discusses the suitability of donor potential with hospital personnel and advise of OurLegacy's course of action.
• Performs data entry corrections as required and notified by Quality Assurance in accordance with established timelines.
• Performs other duties as assigned like transporting labs, assisting travelers acquiring their bags, receiving packages.
• Document's donor information in OurLegacy database and communicates data to the Supervisor and/or Lead.
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Minimum qualifications:
High School Grad or Equiv and 1 years experience
• High School Diploma or GED AND
• 2 years of Medical call center or doctor's office experience OR
• 2 years of Experience in trauma center, emergency care, or other critical care areas OR
• 1 years of Organ Procurement Organization (OPO), Eye and Tissue Donation experience
Driver's License
Preferred qualifications:
Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program OR School of Surgical Technology OR Emergency Medical Technician and/or Paramedic program OR Other allied health certification
• Current valid State of Florida or multi state license as a Registered Nurse
