The hours of operation for the Richmond practice are Monday-Friday, 8am-6pm, Saturdays 8am-12pm. Your primary schedule will be during those hours, with periodic need to work outside your schedule to serve our patients. What does a Certified Medical Assistant do? As a Certified Medical Assistant, you will be responsible for ensuring efficient flow of patients through the practice setting by facilitating examinations and treatment of patients while exhibiting exceptional customer service. What does a typical day on the job look like? Assists providers to maximize patient volume by preparing patients for visit, administering medications, performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and returning patient calls in a timely manner. Completes physician orders and facilitates care, which may result in phoning patient prescriptions, scheduling and arranging labs and diagnostic tests. Provides instructions and directions to patients regarding diagnostic tests, procedures and treatments. Processes patient referrals timely and follows up to ensure the specialist report or test result is received. Maintains effective patient communication and efficient patient flow. Maintains medical records and ensures all required documentation is available in the medical record. Ensures data and information collected for completed procedures is recorded on the appropriate systems and in medical records. Ensures the orderliness and cleanliness of examination rooms, stocks assigned areas, and follows all regulatory and patient safety clinical standards. Checks and completes required logs and equipment such as refrigerator logs, medication inventories, etc. Performs administrative duties such as greeting patients; registration; scheduling; pre-certification of tests, procedures and medications; processing insurance forms; preparing financial records; answering phones; and entering ambulatory care charges. What are the requirements for the job? Graduate of accredited medical assisting program. Certified or Registered Medical Assistant through an accredited certification organization. 2 years of experience in a physician's office setting, preferred. Basic Life Support certification through American Heart Association. Basic office skills, patient centered mindset, excellent time management and organization skills; ability to multitask and work in fast paced environment.
