Job Description
Salem VA Medical Center is seeking a CRNA to join our surgical team in beautiful Salem, Virginia
Our CRNA will serve as a Surgical Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) under the immediate supervision of the Chief, Anesthesiologists, and the Chief of Surgery within the Surgical Care Service Line.
Duties:
The provision of direct patient care throughout all phases of the perioperative process including:
Reviewing relevant information and completing a preoperative assessment, including ordering labs or other tests as indicated by chart review findings.
Performing a thorough preoperative physical assessment and documenting findings as an addendum to the preoperative anesthesia assessment.
Determining the anesthetic plan of care that best meets the needs of the patient and surgeon prior to entering the operating suite.
Placing appropriate monitors and vascular access (both invasive and non-invasive) as indicated by the surgical procedure being performed and patient co-morbidities.
Performing a broad scope of anesthesia techniques and procedures including
Regional anesthetic
General anesthetics (induction, maintenance, emergence)
Monitored anesthesia care.
A-lines, central lines, PICC lines and other vascular access.
Providing anesthesia services both in the operating suite and out of department in various locations throughout the facility.
Supervising and managing the PACU care area and giving orders and assistance as needed.
Recovering postoperative patients in circumstances that prevent a transfer of care postoperatively (PACU staff not on station, no available ICU beds or staff to recover patient postoperatively).
