Summary:
Responsible for the provision and supervision of sleep disorder education, diagnostic, and therapeutic services. Responsible for QA activities in the Sleep Disorders Center. Responsible for continuing education, staff development , and patient/family education. Serves on various committees as department liaison, ensuring SDC participation in system-wide programs. Assists Director with development with policy and procedures review, MIS coordination, and TJC compliance in all areas of the Sleep Disorders Center.
Responsibilities:
Assumes responsibility as the situation warrants with reasonable evaluation.
Responsible for staff development and education to ensure properly trained staff and competence-based review and skill check-off for all patient care and/or diagnostic staff. Maintains accurate records on all staff.
Assists with management in development of new services and existing services or policies as requested by Director.
Proactively supports decisions, objectives and goals of Medical Services Director by endorsing them to the staff and by actively assisting with their implementation and fruition.
Conducts one staff associate interview a month in order to identify problems or concerns, give positive feedback, make needs assessments and update associate on current operational goals. Results of interviews will be reported to Director monthly.
Being responsible for orientation processes for all new hires in all departments.
Assists manager with Associate evaluations.
Participates in education activities to further his/her knowledge on a general basis in order to enhance the quality of patient care.
Any other duties assigned.
Can perform all aspects of Polysomnography, Titration, MSLT/MWT testing based on Clinical Practice Parameters.
Performs scoring of sleep studies.
Responsible for the Sleep Centers QA data and action plans for improvement.
Responsible for the ordering and restocking of supplies.
Responsible for sleep technologist schedule, PTO requests and time entry/review.
Performs education and marketing of the sleep center to physicians and community.
Verifies and reconciles daily charges.
Performs random quality reviews of Polysomnographic Technologists.
Assures accurate scoring, processing, and archiving of all sleep studies.
Assists scheduling and pre-registration to ensure proper patient flow through the center.
Assures the maintenance, cleaning and calibration of diagnostic equipment and supplies.
Provides on-call coverage for patient, scheduling, and technical issues.
Requirements:
Education/Skills
Graduate of an American Medical Association approved Polysomnographic or Respiratory Therapist Program.
Strong computer knowledge.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Experience
Three years experience as Polysomnographic Technologist will assure minimum job knowledge and clinical skills.
Must have at least one year experience and have accountable knowledge of skills to function without direct supervision.
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
BLS
Registered by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists.
Certified/Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
Applicable licensure required (i.e. RN, LVN, CRT or RRT)
