PIH Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Clinical Social Worker, MSW, to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team at PIH Health Whittier Hospital. This PRN (pro re nata) position offers a per diem arrangement with an hourly rate of $46.00, reflecting the importance of the role in providing exceptional patient care. As a Clinical Social Worker, MSW, you will play a critical role in assessing, planning, and implementing comprehensive social work services for patients and their families. Your expertise will help address social, emotional, and economic challenges that may impact patient care and recovery. You will develop tailored treatment plans, coordinate with various healthcare professionals, and utilize community resources to support patients' needs. Additionally, you will provide psycho-social therapy and contribute to the overall patient care plans by sharing insights into the psycho-social aspects of patients' illnesses. Your role is vital in assisting with discharge planning to ensure a smooth transition from hospital to home or other care settings. This position is based at PIH Health Whittier Hospital, located in a region serving approximately 3 million residents. • Demonstrated skill in patient assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
• Strong communication skills, including verbal, non-verbal, written, and oral.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Proficiency in selecting and utilizing community resources as part of treatment plans.
• Capability to provide psycho-social therapy using a variety of treatment methods.
• Experience in coordinating with other professional disciplines or agencies.
• Familiarity with regulatory agency requirements, policies, and protocols.
• Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical social work services.

• Master’s Degree from an Accredited School of Social Work.
• Evidence of continuing education in social work or related fields.
• Understanding of regulatory requirements related to reporting of child/elder abuse, substance use/abuse, child protective custody, adoptions, and other legal mandates.
• Registration as an Associate Clinical Social Worker issued by the California Board of Behavioral Science is strongly preferred.
• Prior experience in a healthcare setting is highly desirable.
• Experience working with diverse patient populations and addressing a wide range of social issues.
