Overview
The Transport and Lift Team Manager oversees the daily operations of the patient transport and lift team services, reporting directly to the Director of Safety, Security, and Sustainability. This role leads a team of staff members, ensuring safe and efficient patient movement throughout the hospital while supporting broader organizational safety and emergency response initiatives. The position plays a crucial role in integrating transport services with security operations and emergency preparedness.
Responsibilities
Operations Management
Manage and supervise a team of transport and lift specialists, including scheduling, performance evaluations, and professional development
Develop and implement policies, procedures, and protocols to optimize patient transport operations
Monitor and analyze department metrics, creating reports and implementing improvements as needed
Manage department budget and resources effectively
Leadership & Change Management
Foster an environment of psychological safety where team members feel comfortable voicing concerns, ideas, and feedback
Develop and communicate clear team goals and expectations, ensuring alignment with departmental and organizational objectives
Implement effective change management strategies to facilitate successful organizational transitions
Provide regular constructive feedback and coaching to team members
Create and maintain open communication channels through regular team meetings, one-on-one sessions, and clear documentation

Emergency Response & Safety in coordination with the Director and Emergency Management Coordinator
Serve as a key member in hospital emergency response initiatives
Assist in the development and maintenance of evacuation protocols and procedures
Collaborate with the Emergency Management Coordinator to train and prepare staff for decontamination procedures and emergency response roles
Coordinate with Security team to enhance surveillance capabilities and reporting
Ensure team members are properly trained in identifying and reporting security concerns
Participate in emergency preparedness drills and training exercises
Integration & Collaboration
Work closely with Security team to enhance facility-wide surveillance and safety measures
Coordinate with various hospital departments to maintain efficient patient flow
Participate in Safety, Security, and Sustainability department initiatives
Lead cross-departmental training efforts related to safe patient handling
Maintain strong working relationships with all hospital departments
Additional Requirements
Must complete required emergency response training
Ability to make critical decisions during emergency situations
Willingness to participate in regular emergency preparedness drills
Must be able to coordinate multiple priorities during crisis situations
Qualifications

Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, Business Administration, or related field, Masters preferred
2-4 years of supervisory experience in healthcare setting
