Functions in the role of expert Infection Control Clinician, consulting with physicians, nursing leadership, managers to ensure effective management of infectious and/or immuno-suppressed patient for assigned market hospitals. Manages the staff for Infection Control ensuring effective care for patients and staff.
Essential Functions
Responsible for the direction and oversight of the Infection Control practices and procedures for each assigned market hospital.
Serves as a resource to departmental, interdepartmental, administrative and clinical operations leadership teams.
Responsible for assessing staff competence in respective area (IC).
Ensures infection control departments are effectively staffed.
Manages all areas of coaching, counseling and disciplinary matters for his/her respective staff, in a professional manner and in accordance with the handbook, policies and procedures.
Performs as Co-Chair for ICP meetings with physicians.
Provides approved clinical services within the scope of practice.
Develops, reviews, and makes necessary changes to departmental policies and procedures, and reports updates and changes directly to physicians and staff accordingly.
Ensures hospital wide compliance with IC program.
Develops hospital wide annual IC Plan and performs assessment of prior year's plan.
Oversees the orientation of newly hired employees and ensures the respective competencies related to IC in the assigned hospital are reviewed and completed as appropriate.

Approximate percent of time required to travel: 10%

Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in nursing or healthcare related field.
Master?s degree in clinical specialty preferred.
Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may substitute for education requirements.
Licenses/Certification
Current State RN license as required by State.
BLS Certification required.
ICP or related certification preferred.
Experience
Minimum of 1-year clinical experience in medical-surgical or critical care nursing.
Experience in Infection Control with basic knowledge of the principles of epidemiology and infections, diseases, sterilization, sanitation, and disinfection practice preferred.
