Riley Children's Health is announcing a new pediatric hospitalist service at Indiana University Health in Bloomington, IN. This is an exciting and unique opportunity for five pediatricians or med/peds to join the state's premier pediatric hospital program while contributing to Riley Children's mission and strategic growth initiative for providing closer access to care for our patients in southern Indiana.
Highlights
Clinical care covering the 6-bed pediatric inpatient unit, normal newborn nursery care, and ED consults for pediatric patients, as needed.
Primary practice location at the newly opened IU Health Bloomington hospital (75-100%). Opportunities for growth through clinical coverage as staffing allows at Riley in Indianapolis, IU North in Carmel, and IU West in Avon
Procedures include lumbar puncture and circumcision (training provided, as needed)
Varied work schedule with a mix of days, nights and weekends to ensure 24/7 in house coverage. Holidays and weekends are evenly distributed among all faculty
154 shifts per academic year, averaging 12 hours per shift. Opportunities available for additional moonlighting at competitive rates.
Faculty appointment commensurate with experience
Clinical medical education and engagement with medical students, advanced practice providers, and Bloomington-based IU residency programs. Additional academic opportunities for quality improvement and clinical research through Riley Pediatric Hospital Medicine division

The parent entity, Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health, serves as the only comprehensive children’s hospital in the state of Indiana. In addition to receiving patients from throughout the state, it serves as the primary admitting hospital for the inner city, underserved community of Indianapolis. Other suburban locations on the west and north sides of Indianapolis draw from suburbs and surrounding rural areas. Indianapolis is home to a variety of immigrant populations including Latino, Burmese and an increasing number of Haitian families, among others. Bloomington is a short 50 minute drive from Indianapolis.
Qualifications
Completion of ABMS pediatric or med/peds residency; PHM fellowship preferred, but not required.
BE/BC in pediatrics
Physician MD/DO licensed in Indiana or eligible for medical licensure.

The new IU Health Bloomington Hospital and Regional Academic Health Center opened in December 2021.
