Nemours is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist (Full-Time), to join our Nemours Children's Health team in Wilmington, Delaware.
Work Schedule: Full time, day shift with rotating evenings; every third weekend rotation
We are looking for a strong candidate interested in working in a fast paced environment, assisting other medical professionals and our patients. We have a great team of people working here and are looking for other staff as our pharmacy services expand, which include bed side delivery and specialty pharmacy.
The Clinical Pharmacist is responsible for providing pharmacy services from the Central Pharmacy and/or Outpatient Pharmacies. The Clinical Pharmacist is responsible for reviewing, clarifying, and making recommendations for all medication orders, and responsible for coordinating & checking all the activities of the Certified Pharmacy Technicians. This Pharmacist will provide age and developmentally appropriate care to infants, children, adolescents, and adults. They will also provide drug information & education to hospital personnel and community, as well as assist with quality improvement initiatives. Ensures compliance with State & Federal regulations concerning Controlled Substances.
- Previews and interprets medications orders for accuracy using sound principles, accounting for pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic variations in drug absorption, distribution, metabolism, and elimination with responsibility for establishing and continually improving the delivery of pharmaceutical care to patients within areas of direct responsibility and assisting others in the department with the same.
- Provides specialized pharmaceutical services to improve drug usage and therapeutic outcomes including advising physicians and practitioners on issues concerning drug therapy, the inherent toxicity of drugs, drug-drug, drug-food interactions, and side effects, as well as assisting in the prescribing of appropriate doses.
- Responsible to provide accurate, adequate, and timely drug information to the professional staff and to patients and their families.
- Coordinates the activities of assigned certified pharmacy technicians engaged in the preparation, labeling and delivery of medications in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to the dispensing of drugs, controlled substance medications, investigational drugs, and the maintenance of required records.
- Facilitates orientations and educational programs for the medical staff and residents regarding the appropriate utilization of Pharmacy Services.
- Participates in medication use review activities of the department. Collects data; maintain logs, records, and other documentation as
assigned.
Job Requirements
- B.S. in Pharmacy or PharmD required.
- Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years experience required.
- Must be licensed or license eligible in DE, PA, & NJ. Associates who are not licensed in the state of DE at time of hire must start process for licensure and must obtain that DE licensure on or before the 90th day of employment. Failure to do may result in suspension pending termination.
- Associates who are not licensed in state(s) of PA, or NJ must obtain licensure for those states within 6 months after start date. Failure to do so may result in suspension pending termination.
- Non Sterile operations (Unit dose training, etc.); Sterile operations (IV compounding, etc.).
- TPN, Oncology and Dialysis experience; Drug Storage; Distribution, and Automation Technology Systems; Pharmacy Software.
- Hospital Pharmacy experience preferred, Pediatric Pharmacy experience preferred.
