SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Provide leadership for supply chain Value Analysis services to ensure appropriate clinical integration and support are delivered throughout Penn State Health (PSH) consistent with our vision and values. Drive the strategy and operations for Value Analysis Programs to include the people, processes, and technologies used to deliver best in class solutions at the optimum value for the caregivers and patients we serve. Responsible for identifying opportunities for cost savings related to improved product, service and process standardization and utilization by appropriately assisting in the selection, evaluation, monitoring, analysis and implementation of cost-effective products, services and processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES- The percentage of time spent performing essential functions is 95%. Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:
Follows PSH vision and values to deliver the strategy and operations of our system level value analysis . This includes working with our system leadership, customers and employees to set appropriate goals, processes and performance measures to deliver solutions at the optimum value for our customers and employees we serve.
Develops communications and analyses for inclusion in executive level presentations. Performs functions such as goal setting, performance reviews, career development and assurance of compliance with required training and education assignments for employees. Establishes a culture of service where service level agreements are developed, measured and reported.
Maintains and develops relationships with key stakeholders that include CFOs, Hospital Presidents, Operations Officers and senior leadership representing all divisions of the company along with most Vice Presidents and AVPs of various functions throughout the health system.
Directs the strategy, growth and operational objectives for Value Analysis services and makes strategic decisions based on company goals and objectives. Effectively communicates throughout the organization strategies and activities related to how products and services are to be purchased and managed. Develops guidelines, processes and procedures for Value Analysis.
Responsible for resource allocation, including budget and personnel. Applies advanced knowledge and clinical expertise to identify products, services and processes that can be standardized, modified and/or eliminated to increase operating efficiency.
Integrates with the clinical teams at PSH to evaluate new product requests, identify and drive product standardization and appropriate utilization of clinical products to deliver optimal value and care. Serves as the system level leader to coordinate the governance of clinical product decision making. Directs assigned resources to best support customers realization of value to include people, process and system support. Processes improvement-related activities include clinical and operational activities and clinical resource management, that focus on areas such as drug cost, laboratory, implant and radiology cost.
Identifies and prioritizes opportunities via comprehensive spend analysis, expiring contracts, future budgets and business planning sessions with stakeholders that results in $10-12M annual savings.
Serves as a liaison between health system subsidiaries, medical staff and Group Purchasing organization (GPO) to ensure cost effective utilization of products, services and processes, including but not limited to medical/surgical supplies, technology and process-related activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
Currently licensed to practice as a registered nurse by state of employment or holds a multistate RN license through the interstate Nurse Licensure Compact.
Bachelor?s degree required.
Seven (7) years of related experience in a hospital/clinical setting, including effective working experiences with physicians and managers/administrators and experience performing analysis of financial and operational data required.
Five (5) years of management experience required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):
Master's degree in Nursing or MBA preferred.
Operating Room / OR service line leader experience preferred.
CORN / CSSM/ CNS-CP certification preferred.
