Department information: The environment is fast-paced, high-energy, and our staff is like family.
We care for adult and pediatric patients who are being treated for emergency medical conditions. Our patients are unique because we never know what is going to come through our door. 14 rooms, 5 additional beds, treating 60 patients a day.
Schedule: Varied Shifts - 9:00 am to 9:00 pm and 9:00 pm to 5:00 am.
Preferred qualifications:
1-year acute care experience, preferably past emergency room experience

JOB SUMMARY
The Patient Care Technician is responsible for assisting in direct patient care specific to the unit assigned; EKG's; Behavioral Health Observation; assisting with patient transfers and repositioning, transporting of patients, supplies, or specimens; and any other duties as deemed necessary to ensure optimal patient care and physician service, under the direction and supervision of the professional nurse. The Patient Care Technician is responsible to the Licensed Practical Nurse, Registered Nurse, Charge Nurse, Clinical Supervisor, Department Manager/Director, Nursing Supervisor, Associate Directors of Nursing Services and the Chief Nursing Officer.

Unit: Our 14-bed Emergency Department cares for adult and pediatric patients with 24/7 emergency medical conditions. Our patients are unique because we never know what will come through our door
Schedule: Primarily weekdays 9:00 am to 9:00 pm
This is a perfect role for nursing students!
What you will do:
Patient Care: Assist with basic patient care activities such as bathing, dressing, and feeding.
Vital Signs: Measure and document patients' vital signs, including blood pressure, heart rate, and temperature.
Specimen Collection: Collect blood, urine, and other specimens for laboratory testing.
Patient Transport: Safely transport patients to different departments within the hospital.
Medical Procedures: Assist nurses and doctors with medical procedures, including CPR and emergency airway management.
Room Preparation: Clean and prepare patient rooms, ensuring they are stocked with necessary supplies.
Patient Monitoring: Observe and report changes in patients' conditions to the healthcare team.
Documentation: Maintain accurate patient records and ensure proper documentation of care provided.
Preferred qualifications:
Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, proficiency in basic medical procedures and equipment.
Experience: Previous experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in emergency care, is preferred but not required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Supports patient flow and unit operations by maintaining supplies, equipment, and unit environmental standards
* Provides patient care based upon the nursing process in accordance with mission & vision, as directed and observed by the RN/LPN. Assists with procedures according to organizational/departmental standard
* Ability to work under limited supervision and to follow written and oral instructions.
* Ability to demonstrate effective communications skills, empathy, and unconditional positive regard toward all patients and co-workers
* Compliance with organizational requirements, including policies, procedures, and regulations specific to the unit.
* Maintains annual education requirements prior to due date.
* Knowledge and implementation of standardized PPE regarding the prevention / transmission of infectious disease / isolation processes.
