About the opportunity:
Works to secure major, principal, and planned gifts in support of Vail Health's strategic priorities by establishing a rapport that encourages, supports, and sustains the benefactor's desire to create a philanthropic relationship with Vail Health. This will include engaging benefactors, benefactors' advisors, and individuals throughout Vail Health to identify funding objectives of Vail Health that match the benefactor interests; and help benefactors achieve their highest aspirations for self, family, and Vail Health.
What you will do:
Maintains and manages a portfolio of approximately 75 assigned benefactors. Creates and presents a targeted number of gift proposals to new and/or current benefactors.
Develops and implements cultivation and solicitation strategies for assigned benefactors and carries out strategies to make substantive contacts. Maintains current knowledge of institutional philanthropic priorities within the scope of responsibility; identifies prospective benefactors for those opportunities.
Ensures that the benefactor is inspired and has the same confidence in the Foundation as in his/her physician and Vail Health.
Assumes appropriate stewardship for each assigned benefactor's contributions. Personalizes gift acknowledgments with phone calls, correspondence, etc., as appropriate.
Initiates and builds relationships with benefactors/prospects and focuses on benefactors advancing within the giving continuum as appropriate.
Spends a minimum of 50% of time meeting and building rapport with prospects/benefactors in their homes, offices, business locales, or virtually.
Conducts responsibilities ethically and with integrity, accepting the "Donor Bill of Rights" and all Vail Health and Foundation ethical standards.
Models the principles of a Just Culture.
Performs other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.

What you will need:
Experience:
7 years of fundraising experience required, to include a combination of the following areas of expertise: cultivation and solicitation of major and principal gifts; management of staff and/or projects that include multi-tasking activities, goal setting, and/or strategic planning; proposal writing and plan development; trust and estate planning experience; annual fundraising planning.
Experience in a comprehensive fundraising organization or related development experience that predicts success, such as attorney/trust relations or experience with annual, major gift fundraising organizations, is preferred.
Experience with fundraising in a healthcare facility is preferred.
Must have demonstrated knowledge of the development process and understanding of all stages of the relationship with benefactors (identification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship)

Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computer skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc. Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office. Knowledge of Raiser's Edge or other high-end donor/donations management software and solid experience with Salesforce, WealthEngine, and similar.
