Occ Summary
Independently plan and provide professional nu rsis inaccordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the North Carol inaBoard of Nursing.
Work Performed
Plan, provide, su perng care for patientsin accordance with physician orders and establish edpolicies andprocedures. Provide nursing servicesto patients and famili evise and document professional nursing care utilizing the nursing proce ss for patients in accordance with physician orders and established poli cies and procedures. Use professional nursing judgment to individualize the plan of care based on assessment of the patient's baseline needs and response to care. Delegate tasks and supervise the activities of other l icensed and unlicensed care providers. Assist other nursing personnel in the delivery of nursing care and act as team leader or charge nurse fora group of patients or an entire unit as assigned. Monitor and initiateco rrective action to maintain the environment of care including equipmentand material resources. Participate in own professional development by m aintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriate assistance or educational offerings. Act as preceptor and s upport the development of other staff and formal learners.Participatein the identification of clinical or operational performance improvement op portunities and in performance improvement activities. Perform otherrela ted duties incidental to the work described herein.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
Work requires graduation from an accredited BSN program. Exception: Registered nurses hired between July 1, 2014 and April 11, 2021 without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) are encouraged to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date but must complete the program within seven years of their start date. Registered nurses hired before July 1, 2014 are not required to enroll in a BSN program to remain in this jobclassification.
Experience
Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience is required. At a manager's discretion, employees with 6 months of experience who are exceptional performers may be eligible for this level. CN Is areeligible for promotion to CN II by meeting criteria set forth by the DUHS Vizient Nurse Residency Program within 12 months of hire. Promotions can occur at 12 months of hire, but no later than 18 months of hire.
Degrees, Licensures, Certifications
Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.
