BJC HealthCare has an opening for a Business Intelligence Development Manager. This role will manage 6-8 developers in our Businesss Intelligence Data Solutions Department.
This role does require you to be in Greater St. Louis area.

Role Purpose
This people manager on the BJC BIDS team has direct supervisor responsibility for a team of software developers. This experienced technology leader collaborates with their peer data architects and analytics leaders to ensure delivery of BI solutions. In particular, the software developers who report to this manager are building, testing, and deploying data pipeline software or data analytics dashboards that support multiple business functions in BJC.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the team that develops and deploys software to manage data for use in reporting and analytics. These technology solutions support the BIDS team?s objectives and BJC?s goals. The specific solutions and software enable business and clinical leaders across BJC to manage and measure their organizations? performance with key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics.
Responsible for defining and managing adherence to the BIDS software development standards. They will collaborate with the BIDS architects and SMEs to define and document these standards and communicate these to their team of developers. Thru code reviews and 1-1 conversations with their team, the manager ensures the standards are followed in each developer?s software deliverables.
Responsible for the quality of the software that their team delivers. By defining and communicating software development standards as well as adhering to industry best practices for version control, unit testing in non-production environments, the manager establishes the expectations for software quality practices to be performed by each developer.
Responsible for managing this team of software developers, including hiring, training, and mentoring team members. These duties also include setting performance goals, providing feedback, and ensuring that team members have the resources they need to be successful. This manager identifies, addresses, and corrects poor performance is addressed and corrected. They are also expected to identify, develop, and grow the strong performers, providing stretch opportunities for career development and advancement.
Collaborates with their peer leaders within BIDS and within BJC. These relationships are key to identifying BJC data and analytics needs. This specifically can include working with business and clinical leaders to identify BIDS opportunities to drive value or working with BJC Technology teams to ensure that BIDS solutions are integrated when needed.
Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: onboarding and hiring, training, workload management & performance evaluations, conducting professional development plans as needed. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
